National Nuclear Ventilation Forum & Ventilation Working Group

National Nuclear Ventilation Forum (NNVF)

The NNVF is a sub-group of the Nuclear Engineering Directors Forum (NEDF).  The forum is attended by members of UK nuclear site licence companies, nuclear ventilation practitioners within the supply chain and representatives from ventilation plant item manufacturers.

Representatives of the Office for Nuclear Regulation and Environment Agency also attend the meetings, which are held 3 times per year.  The NNVF has members on the BSI MCE/21 Filters for gases and liquids committee, ISO committees and the ASME Committee on Nuclear Air and Gas Treatment (CONAGT).

The NNVF's objectives are to cover the strategic priorities of the NEDF in the following areas:-

  • Standards - to make efficiencies across the industry by contributing to shared Procurement Specifications and Design Guides
  • Asset & Ageing management - to share good practice in improving the longevity in legacy plants
  • Skills - Develop opportunities and materials for training and CPD
  • Identification of required R&D of relevant technology

 Regulatory Engagement

ONR Ventilation Technical Assessment Guide (TAG) NS-TAST-GD-022 acknowledges the NNVF as an industry led expert group with broad representation from across the sector. The TAG recognises that the guides and standards produced with input from, and endorsed by the NNVF, may be considered as Relevant Good Practice specific to the GB nuclear industry.
