Women in Nuclear UK’s mission is to address the industry’s gender balance, improve the representation of women in leadership and to engage with the public on nuclear issues. To meet this mission it has three objectives:
 |
 |
 |
Attraction |
Retention |
Dialogue |
Attract more women to choose a career in the nuclear sector |
Support retention and career progression of women in the industry |
Promote dialogue with the public about the nuclear industry |
WiN UK was formed in early 2014 to improve diversity and increase the skills base in the nuclear industry by encouraging gender balance. Our Executive Board is focused on three key objectives of Attraction, Retention and Dialogue.
The aim of these committees is to encourage younger females into the nuclear industry through engagement with schools and universities; to support those already in the sector with career progression through mentoring and networking; the dialogue team leads on ensuring broader engagement on diversity within the sector, but also on engaging women outside the industry in the debate on nuclear energy.
We also have a team focused on priorities of developing an Industry Charter that companies can sign up to and commit to making a difference, and a Toolkit to aid companies by bringing together experts and information, in a guide on best practice.
The organisation has gone from strength-to-strength in its first year and following a major first conference in January 2015, now has over 700 members.
WiN UK is one of over 30 international chapters under the umbrella of Women in Nuclear Global.
