The Intro to Project Management is one of the YGN’s standout events.
This year’s event will focus on key areas of project management such as Change Control, Planning and Risk Management, as well as giving an overarching talk on the principles and buzzwords surrounding this vast subject.
Speakers
Scott Edwards: Scott has worked as a Project Manager on Radioactive Materials Packaging Design and Licensing Activities, Water Treatment Systems at nuclear facilities and on the Yucca Mountain Project. He has managed Transportation and Packaging organisations at the US Department of Energy facilities of Fernald, Idaho National Laboratory and Hanford before becoming the Director of Transportation for AREVA (now Orano), USA.
Alastair Laird - PT&C International Managing Director: Alastair is a past President of the European Nuclear Society and is a Board Member of the UK Nuclear Institute. He has a degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He has 30 years of experience in the nuclear sector and has worked on five licenced nuclear sites. He has spent 15 years in Project and Programme Management working for Sellafield, Magnox and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. He is currently on secondment to EDF-Energy setting up the AGR Decommissioning Programme.
Tom Eastup: Tom is a management consultant and qualified Project, Programme, Portfolio Management (P3M) professional. Through his work at innovation and transformation company, PA Consulting, he helps energy and utilities organisations create, deliver, and realise opportunities at the intersection between strategy, innovation, and technology. Tom's focus is supporting clients to design and deliver their complex business transformation initiatives and he is passionate about changing the delivery underperformance paradigm – by harnessing innovative approaches enabled by emerging technology and adaptive delivery models. Tom believes that nuclear will be a key contributor to Net Zero, and through his role as Chair of the APM/NI Nuclear PM SIG is actively supporting the industry to maximise its delivery performance and competitiveness.
