LB - Hinkley Point C: the Contract for Difference agreement

Hinkley Point C: the Contract for Difference agreement

Kindly hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills LLP at Exchange House Primrose Street London EC2A 2EG

Last year, the Contract for Differences (CfD) agreement for Hinkley Point C  was signed after many years of negotiations and after plenty of public debate. The Contract for Differences was perhaps the most important agreement in allowing EDF and CGN to take a positive investment decision for HPC. It sets out a guaranteed Strike Price of £92.50/MWh for the output of Hinkley Point C for 35 years. It also sets out agreements on other crucial areas – such as construction overruns and delays, political shutdown, long term changes in operating costs and sharing of financial gains.

The speakers -  Camilla McCorkell (EDF Energy) and Hannah Roscoe (Herbert Smith Freehills)  - were involved in the Hinkley Point C negotiations for several years. They will talk about their experiences of the negotiation process and some of the key challenges which arose and the key features of the CfD.
