About us
We are the Cumbria Branch of the Nuclear Institute for all those working in the nuclear industry based in the area. Since West Cumbria is at the heart of the UK's nuclear industry, we are one the largest NI branches and the biggest centre for nuclear jobs in the UK.
Run by a committee of dedicated volunteers, the branch runs a broad range of events, lectures and visits throughout the year in response to the demands of the blossoming regional nuclear community. Our aims are to connect you with others in the sector, facilitate continued learning and give you opportunities to get involved in our activities.
What we do
The Cumbria Branch helps to promote the aims of the Nuclear Institute through an ongoing programme of educational, networking and social events, including:
- Nuclear-specific lectures, seminars and webinars
- Technical tours and visits
- Annual Speaking Competition in collaboration with the Young Generation Network
- Networking events for the regional nuclear community
- Outreach and public engagement activities such as the Big Bang Fair
- The Cumbria Branch Annual Dinner
Get involved
Involvement with our branch activity provides an excellent opportunity to build your networks within the nuclear industry and gain evidence to support applications for professional registration.
