Central England Branch: Star Makers: The Energy of Tomorrow
Joseph Neilson, Radiometric Scientist at UKAEA will be introducing the Star Makers behind-the-scenes documentary film produced for UKAEA, which follows the lives of scientists and engineers working on JET during one of the recent deuterium-tritium experimental fusion campaigns. Watch the challenges they face as the test critical scientific and engineering principles for the development of future fusion, and attempt to break records in sustained fusion energy.
Although JET had now finished operating, and is handing over the baton to other fusion experiments such as ITER, there is still much to be learned from the collected JET data and during the decommissioning and repurposing of the machine and support facilities.
Following the film Joseph will be answering questions in a Q&A session.
