Heysham Nuclear Power Station Tour

This tour is of the Heysham nuclear power station. Heysham is compromised of 2 AGRs (Advanced Gas Reactors) which have been operational since the 1980's and are due to cease operations in the early 2030's. The power station is currently owned and operated by EDF which a combined power output of over 2000MWe. 

The tour aims to provide an insight into the design and operation of the second generation of British gas-cooled reactors. These reactors use a graphite moderator and CO2 coolant which have been fundamental in the British Nuclear Industry. 

This tour is free of charge. This tour is aimed at the Nuclear Institute Young Generation Network members, should a non-YGN member sign up they will be added to a waiting list.

It is up to the attendees to make their own way to the tour and a tour guide will show the attendees around the facility. Lunch will not be provided.

11:15    Security process and tour of Heysham 2 Power Station 
12:45    Return to Visitor Centre and departure
