YGN Technical Tour: EDF Torness Power Station
The YGN are offering a limited number of young nuclear professionals the opportunity to attend a visit of Torness Power Station. Having started generating in 1988 Torness has two advanced gas cooled reactors, using carbon dioxide as the coolant and has supplied a total of 1190 MW to the national grid.
The tour will include the pile cap, viewing gallery of the turbine hall, a look at the controlled area access and an external tour of site. There will also be a Q&A session with the Torness Station Director. This is a walking tour and will include lifts, narrow corridors and over 90 stairs.
The event is free with preference given to NI YGN members should the tour reach capacity.
