Liv's Mentoring Background
I’ve been involved in lots of types of mentoring activities from being a mentee in my early career, to becoming and mentor and also in developing and leading mentorship programmes across an organisation in my HR career. I’ve seen first hand the benefits of good mentoring programmes and I’m a huge advocate of the NI’s approach to mentorship.
I’m very lucky in that I’ve had lots of successful mentors myself and have benefitted hugely from lots of advice and guidance throughout my career for which I’m forever grateful for.
I’m really passionate about the ED and I agenda having been involved in Women in Nuclear, Racial Equality in Nuclear and supporting the Primary Science Teaching Trust. It’s great to see mentoring activities incorporated into the offerings from those organisations. They’ve all taken different approaches to mentoring and its really interesting to see how each have incorporated best practice to meet their needs.
Having a mentor and being a mentor are equally rewarding. It’s very humbling to help and support others on their career journey and I’d highly recommend it to anyone considering becoming a mentor to give it a try!"
