Nuclear Institute launches NI Endorsement for academic programmes

The Nuclear Institute has announced the launch of NI Endorsement, a new mark of excellence for academic programmes that provide a solid foundation for careers in the nuclear industry.

Derived from the Nuclear Professionalism Standard®, NI Endorsement recognises programmes that deliver high-quality learning, embed nuclear sector knowledge, and prepare graduates for the unique responsibilities of working in a nuclear environment.

Applications are now open to programmes at any level of the National Qualifications Framework - from diplomas to postgraduate degrees - as well as discipline-based courses with a nuclear focus, such as mechanical or electrical engineering, that embed nuclear-specific content.

“As the nuclear industry continues to expand, there will be an increasing demand for skilled graduates across all disciplines” says Robert Gofton, CEO.

”The Nuclear Institute is committed to ensuring that academic programmes meet the highest standards, providing the quality assurance that all learners rightly expect and deserve.”

Endorsed programmes benefit from:

  • Sector recognition as meeting nuclear industry standards.
  • A clear pathway to professional qualifications via the Nuclear Institute.
  • Enhanced industry links and career opportunities for graduates.
  • Elevated profile, including the right to display the NI Endorsed logo and feature in NI’s course listings.

Cynthia Hearing, Membership and Business Development Director, added: “NI Endorsement is about recognising programmes that give students the confidence, knowledge, and industry readiness to step into the nuclear sector. It’s a win for students, institutions, and the industry as a whole.”
