The Cumbria Branch of the Nuclear Institute runs an annual bursary competition which offers Cumbrian Year 13 students the chance to win a contribution towards their university tuition fees.
Entrants must submit a CV and short personal statement then, if selected, give a 10-minute presentation on a subject of their choice related to nuclear science or engineering. The presentation will be delivered to a judging panel and small audience of branch members on the evening of the competition.
All those chosen to give a presentation will be awarded a cash prize, with the ultimate winner receiving £1,250 towards their studies.
This is a great opportunity for students planning to go to university to gain some public speaking experience and, more importantly, a contribution towards tuition fees.
The deadline for entries is Friday 11th July 2014.
The competition final will take place in early September, before the start of the university term.
