On 14th September the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) announced that they had tasked the Nuclear Innovation and Research Office (NIRO) with convening a restructured Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB) which will incorporate a wider range of expertise and operate in a more flexible manner.
NIRAB initially operated as a temporary advisory board from January 2014 to December 2016. During that time it reviewed the UK civil nuclear landscape and made recommendations to Ministers on the additional research and innovation required to underpin government policy.
NIRO are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experts to become members of the new restructured NIRAB with a view to draw on a wide pool of expertise to provide independent advice to government and oversight of the work of NIRO within the new advisory framework. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in helping to shape the future role of nuclear within the UK energy landscape.
EOI are sought from expert individuals with deep knowledge across a range of fields to provide advice to government; this includes both nuclear and non-nuclear specific expertise (for example in areas such as manufacturing, commercialisation of R&D and economics).
