A consortium led by ARC- the Edinburgh-based risk and safety solutions consultancy- has been selected by the Norwegian regulator, DSA, to be one of the few companies to support its activities related to nuclear safety and security over the next 2-4 four years.
The appointment is further international recognition of ARC’s reputation as one of the leading independent providers of safety case and risk assessment services. The contract was awarded under framework arrangements that are potentially worth up to £4m over the next four years.
The consortium was awarded the contract by the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) in the face of stiff international competition. Joining ARC in the partnership are Ubique Risk Management, NSG Environmental, Matom, Cerberus Nuclear and Quintessa. The partners will bring their own leading expertise in providing a comprehensive range of services in decommissioning, waste management, radiation protection, shielding, risk assessment, safety and security.
Jon Baggs, who leads ARC ‘s Nuclear Business Unit, said: “This is a significant appointment for us, because the calibre and experience of the consultants who will deliver our services- across all six partners- has clearly been recognised. It shows that small and medium sized enterprises can compete against the large international consortia in open competition.”
