NIWB helped to host the first WiN Regional event in the Western Branch area. Our speed mentoring event took place directly prior to the NI dinner in Bristol on 10th March. It was a great success. WiN and NI were able to work well together to find some fantastic mentors from among the dinner guests, and implement the tried, tested and ever-popular WiN speed mentoring formula to provide an event that was fun and educational for all involved, and allowed everyone to make new contacts. Hopefully it will become an annual event!
The objectives of this event were to attract and support women in the nuclear industry, and to promote WiN UK. Huge thanks to the organisers and all who took part. Particular thanks have to go to the mentors, who represented companies across the UK nuclear sector, including EDF Nuclear Generation, NNB, Costain, Altran, Horizon, Hydrock NMCL and Jacobs.
The event was beneficial for both mentees and mentors. Mentees were able to network and discuss career paths and progression. Some of the mentees explored possible business opportunities. Mentors were able to share their experience and promote their organisation.
Everyone found this event very useful and some of the discussions were continued after the event. The event inspired lots of conversation and ideas for future mentoring collaborations so watch this space!
