Nuclear Institute: Apprentice Membership Administrator

£16,500 - £16,500 | Remote

Role description

The successful candidate will support the Stakeholder and Business Development Manager in recruiting companies and individuals to our membership schemes. This is a key role involving lots of customer interaction and helping us to keep accurate records about our members. Therefore a welcoming attitude and good customer service skills will help you succeed.

As well as learning basic business operations you will become a membership specialist which opens lots of other doors to future careers.

Main duties include:

Serving the NI and its members

  • Adding new members to our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and ensuring that records are well maintained and accurate.
  • Updating records as members change or move.
  • Producing lists of members that can be used to invoice companies, follow up individuals for payment of membership subscriptions or provide for marketing purposes.
  • Send out member welcome emails.
  • Solve member login queries.
  • Assist members to access a range of membership services.
  • Be the first line responder to phone calls from members and on our web chat system.
  • Respond to queries in the Membership inbox.

Supporting the volunteers

  • Producing mailing lists for our volunteer communities including branches, YGN and Special Interest Groups.
  • Keeping volunteer lists and resources updated.
  • Other tasks to support NI operations as requested.

Key skills

Essential

  • A confident attitude, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm to take on new tasks as needed
  • Excellent IT, written and verbal communications skills

Desirable

  • Excellent customer service skills.

Location and Travel

The Nuclear Institute does not have an office so you will primarily be working from home. Time will be made to meet with you for in-house training and we have monthly team meetings in London, however you can be based anywhere. 

There may be travel and occasional out-of-hours working to support membership and events.

Training and Career progression

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Business Administrator to develop a range of office skills (training provider: JGA Limited)
  • In-house training in membership administration
  • External training of one day per week

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • There are many well-paid jobs in the membership sector and hundreds of employers
  • A skilled membership officer could be earning £30,000+ in a few years

The Nuclear Institute is the professional membership body and learned society for the nuclear industry. The Nuclear Institute conducts educational and outreach activities, organises events and conferences, produces a respected industry journal, and supports professionalism within the industry and of our members.
